Project Overview

The City of Minot has planned improvements to 3^rd Street and Central Avenue. The project corridor will be constructed in two separate segments (also see map below):


 

• *Segment 1 (2027 construction tentatively):  3^rd Street – 2^nd Avenue SE to 1^st Avenue NE; Central Avenue E – 3^rd Street to 4^th Street
• Segment 2 (exact date of construction TBD):  3^rd Street – 5^th Avenue NE to 2^nd Avenue NE

 
* Note that the 3rd Street bridge is not included in the limits of this 3rd Street Reconstruction Project.  Any work that might take place in the future to repair or replace the bridge would be a separate project.  Our project would coordinate with that separate project as needed.
 
This project is needed to:

• Replace the pavement with new concrete pavement on 3^rd Street from 5^th Avenue NE to 1^st Avenue SE, and Central Avenue E from 3^rd Street to 4^th Street.
• Evaluate options to improve lane configurations, roadway geometry, and corridor traffic operations.
• Improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
• Other improvements include storm sewer upgrades, sanitary sewer and watermain replacement, pedestrian signal system replacement, and traffic signal replacements.
• Provide continuity with previous downtown Minot improvement projects through streetscapes, lighting, and other aesthetic enhancements.
• Design the railroad crossing to allow for potential future Quiet Zone implementation.
